Jake Aiken Winter

BA(hons) DipArch ARB RIBA

Jake is a RIBA registered Architect who draws experience from his background in carpentry and metalwork to design beautiful and useful spaces for people and communities.

He has over 6 years experience working with complex group clients and stakeholders in the Educational and Residential sectors on projects worth between £500,000 to £5 million on difficult and tightly constrained urban backland sites in the city.

Before joining Ackroyd Lowrie he worked both in the UK and in Northern India on projects ranging from modernist conservation to bespoke residential. He gained his qualifications in Newcastle and at the London Metropolitan University with his research focusing on how technology can make the community active participants in the process of design.

His master’s thesis The Water Guardians of Kathmandu was shortlisted for the World Architecture Festival Research Award for its careful consideration of the architectural role a water shortage plays in the context of a global eastern river city.

In his free time, he designs and builds interactive festival sculptures across Europe and spends time in his wood workshop.
